- Wes has a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta, and taught in various schools throughout the Battle River Wainwright riding.
- Wes currently owns and operates a self storage business in Wainwright, he is a general contractor and a volunteer Firefighter for Wainwright Fire and Rescue.
- Wes has served on various boards, including being the past president of the Wildrose Battle River Wainwright Constituency Association.
- Wes has been married to his wife, Eileen for 27 years and they have 3 children.
